Collins Joins 1,000 Career Points Club in Road Win over Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – A milestone night from Ciara Collins powered Pace University Women's Basketball to a 62–51 victory at Adelphi University on Tuesday evening, as the Setters secured a key Northeast 10 road win. Pace improved to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play behind a dominant second quarter and a career-high 28 points from Collins.

The standout forward also etched her name into the Blue and Gold record books, surpassing the 1,000-point mark to become the 31st player in program history to reach the monumental milestone.

Collins wasted little time setting the tone, opening the game with a pair of three-pointers while also anchoring the defense on the glass. The Setters carried a slim 17-16 lead after one, with Collins already making her presence felt on both ends of the floor.

The second quarter proved decisive, as Pace delivered its strongest defensive stretch of the night.Adelphi was held to just six points in the frame, while Collins continued to attack the paint and get to the free-throw line. Collins reached the 1,000-career-point milestone in the second quarter, becoming the latest Setter to join the program's 1,000-point club. A strong finish from Anisa Akinola and a late basket from Cali Chiocchi capped a closing run that sent Pace into halftime with a commanding 36-22 advantage.

Pace maintained control after the break, answering every push with poised offense. Collins continued to build on her career night with aggressive drives and tough finishes, while LyNeta Brand added timely baskets and strong rebounding to help Pace extend its lead to 51-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

Adelphi made one final push early in the final period, but Pace responded with composure. Collins calmly knocked down multiple free throws late, while Grace Ziogas added a pair from the line to slow the momentum. Brand sealed the outcome with a basket in the closing minute as the Setters closed out the road victory with disciplined possessions and defensive stops.

Collins turned in a career performance, scoring a 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds, while shooting 12-of-13 from the free-throw line. Akinola recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, Brand finished with 11 points, and Chiocchi chipped in 7 points.

As a team, Pace forced 19 turnovers and held Adelphi to just 20 percent shooting from three-point range.
