Special Teams Spark Not Enough as Pace Falls to Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – Pace University football dropped a 30-6 decision on the road at Franklin Pierce on Saturday evening. The Setters got their lone score on a 96-yard kickoff return by Jhamier Howard to open the second half, and with the loss, the Blue and Gold move to 0-3 on the season.

Franklin Pierce built a 16-0 halftime lead behind a first-quarter field goal, a 20-yard touchdown pass, and a 38-yard scoring strike midway through the second. Pace's best first-half drives were highlighted by a 19-yard grab from Gary Wilkins and a 17-yard connection to Elizjah Lewis, but multiple interceptions stalled the offense before the break.

Howard provided a spark just 15 seconds into the third quarter with his electric return touchdown, his second special-teams score in as many weeks. He finished with 156 yards on five kickoff returns. Despite the momentum, the Ravens responded with a 13-play touchdown drive late in the third and sealed the contest with a short rushing score in the fourth.

Quarterback Ethan Coady threw for 140 yards, including a 59-yard strike to Ian Adrien in the fourth quarter. Wilkins hauled in five receptions for 51 yards, while Kyler Robinson added 31 yards on four catches. Anthony Robinson led the rushing attack with 28 yards on four carries.

Defensively, linebacker Travis Osterhout totaled 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack. Denzel Williams posted six stops and two pass breakups, and Jack Coleman blocked an extra-point attempt.

The Setters continue Northeast-10 Conference play next Saturday (Sept. 20) when they host Post University at Northwell Stadium for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
