Top Seed Setters Cruise to Semifinal Round After Defeating SNHU

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The one seed in the 2025 Northeast-10 (NE10) Women's Lacrosse Tournament, your Pace Setters, hosted the quarterfinal round of the postseason event versus the eight seed, Southern New Hampshire Univeristy (SNHU), Saturday afternoon at Northwell Stadium.

The Blue and Gold begins their trek back into the championship round when they tackled the Penmen 19-4 in the day backed by Maddie Schubert's season high scoring outing.

Here's What Happened:
  • The Penmen caged the first goal of the contest for the immediate lead over the hosts, however, Schubert found the back of the net soon after to equalize the score, 1-1, and Gigi Genovese gave the squad the 2-1 advantage. Once SNHU tied it up once again at two with a man-up opportunity, Laura Luikart gave the go-ahead goal, 3-2, and that would be the push they needed to maintain their lead for the remainder of the day.
  • After the opening stanza, the hosts featured a 6-2 lead and a low scoring second led to a 6-3 halftime score with the Setters out in front.
  • Pace's offensive push in the third propelled them to victory when they caged eight and held the Penmen to one. The Blue and Gold were paced by Schubert (3), Mackenzie Carita (3), and Luikart (2) and on the defensive end, the team held the Penmen to just three shots, two being on goal in which Samantha Tanguay made the stop.
  • The final frame was scoreless for SNHU. Carita, Schubert, and Katie Long piled on the final three points of the opening NE10 postseason contest for the 19-4 victory and to advance into the semifinal round.
Box Score Insights:
  • Schubert led all scorers with a season-high of six goals while Carita led in points with seven on five goals and two assists.
  • Genovese tallied two goals and three assists for five points and Luikart caged four goals.
  • Alyssa Wolf led on the defensive end with three caused turnovers and Sasha Kulo remains dominant in the draws with nine.
  • Tanguay recorded the win in cage with eight saves.
