FLUSHING, N.Y. – With three runs in the final two innings, Pace baseball snuck past the Knights of Queens College on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 4-3. The close battle between both teams was decided in the late innings as the Setters rallied from down two runs to earn their 14
th victory of the season.
With the road win, the Blue and Gold now boast a 14-11 overall record alongside an even 5-5 record within the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference.
Here's What Happened
- Zeros remained on the scoreboard from both sides until the first run crossed the plate for Queens in the bottom half of the fifth. Answering back, the Setters pushed a run across off an RBI single from Anthony Labita. Heading into the final three innings, the Setters and Knights remained all square at one run apiece.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Queens produced two runs with a double in the left field gap to make it 3-1 in favor of the home squad.
- With their back against the wall in the eighth inning, the Blue and Gold took advantage of a Benjamin Tullo double to bring the score back to even, 3-3, moving into the final inning.
- In the ninth, a walk from Luke Rivara gave the Setters a chance to swipe the lead on the road before heading back on the mound. With Mason Baronian at the plate, the Knights committed an untimely error to put the Setters ahead by one run, 4-3.
- Moving into the bottom of the ninth, Anthony Apollaro continued to throw strikes, helping Pace secure the impressive comeback victory on the road, 4-3.
