CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL: A Preview Into the #5 Pace Men’s Basketball Match Up With #2 SNHU

PLEASANTVILLE, NY –  Saturday, March 8, is scheduled to be an eventful afternoon in Manchester, NH with two teams, (fifth seed) Pace University and (second seed) Southern New Hampshire University, looking to clinch historic moments for their Men's Basketball programs. The Setters are making their first ever appearance in the Northeast-10 (NE10) Championship and are looking to clinch their first ever conference title while SNHU is working to defend their 2023-24 NE10 Championship.

Not to mention, the Penmen knocked out the Setters, 83-76, in an upset fashion on the hardwood for Goldstein Fitness Center in last year's Quarterfinal round.  

In the 2024-25 regular season, the series is split 1-1 with the Penmen taking the 64-62 victory on Jan. 5 and the Setters grasping redemption on their home court in February with a 76-58 feat. Scoring leaders for both teams through the two games was Tray Alexander for the Blue and Gold with an average of 16.0 points, 7.5 assists, and 6 steals and  Kurtis Henderson with 14.5 points and 3 steals.

Key Players to Look Out For:
Pace
Tray Alexander: NE10 Player of the Year… NE10 All-Defensive Team ... NE10 First-Team… Leads the team with 16.4 points per game, 8.7 assists per game (2nd in Division II), and 3.0 steals per game (2nd in Division II).

Trey Boyd III: NE10 Third-Team... Second on the team with 14.0 points per game, 69 three-point FG made for 36% on the season, and tied for third with 1.2 steals per game.

Jabari Nurse: NE10 All-Defensive Team … Averages 11.0 points per game, second on the team with 1.8 steals per game, and leads with 0.6 blocks per game. Also records 5.2 rebounds per game.

Darren Fergus: Has had a tremendous postseason  so far for the Blue and Gold... Recorded a season high of 20 points, going 8-12 (67%) from the field versus Assumption and finished with 10 points in the OT win with Adelphi.

Kurtis Henderson: NE10 First-Team... Third on the team with 13.7 points per game…  First with 3.5 assists per game… Second with 1.6 steals per game.

Paul Greene: NE10 Second-Team… Averages a double-double of 13.8 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game...  First on the team with 1.8 steals per game. Shoots 50% (146-289) from the field and tallied 19 blocks on the season.

Royce Williams: A transformed starter for the Penmen this season making his first start on 1/18/25 this season … Has a field goal percentage of 46% (81-176) for an average of 8.5 points per game and grabs 3.0 rebounds per game. On a seven game streak notching points in double-digits.
