PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, Pace baseball split their doubleheader match-up against No. 25 Bentley University winning game one, 8-6, and dropping game two, 8-4. With the split, the Setters sit at 9-9 overall and 2-3 within the Northeast-10.
Game One
- In the first game of the twin-bill, offenses succeeded at the plate with 14 total runs crossing home plate.
- The opening inning saw three runs scoring with Bentley posting one and Pace two. A long ball to left field from Mason Baronian helped put the Setters up early, 2-1.
- The Falcons responded by producing four runs in the top of the third to snag a 5-1 advantage over the Setters. The road squad's lead would not last long as a three-run home run from Andrew Heppner brought the game back to even, 5-5.
- With a scoreless fourth inning from both sides, a 5-5 tie moved into the fifth as Pace looked to jump ahead of the Falcons. Benjamin Tullo delivered for the Blue and Gold driving a frozen rope over the left field wall to push the home team ahead, 7-5.
- Anthony Labita tallied one final RBI for Pace in the next inning and moving into the ninth the Setters held a three-run lead, 8-5.
- Anthony Apollaro took helm of the mound and shut the door on the Falcons in the final inning as Pace took home the game-one win, 8-6.
- In the contest, Apollaro earned his second save while Brendan McCann (4.0 IP, 2K's, 0ER) earned the impressive win over the top 25 Bentley squad.
Game Two
- In game two, the Setters fell behind in the first inning 5-0 behind three hits from the Falcon's lineup. After tallying three runs in the next half-inning zeros filled the majority of the scoreboard until the final inning.
- In both their final at-bats Pace and Bentley tacked on one run in the seventh inning leading to an 8-4 loss for the Blue and Gold.
