Defensive Showcase Fuels No. 19 Setters Past New Haven

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Tuesday at the Goldstein Fitness Center, No. 19 Pace men's basketball thrived in front of their home crowd defeating the University of New Haven, 74-61. A strong defensive performance from the Blue and Gold helped lead them to their 20th victory of the 2024-25 season.

Here's What Happened
  • The Setters came out of the gates with a 7-0 run against the Chargers. Pace made it difficult for their opponents in the opening half holding them to eight made field goals and a 33.3% shooting percentage.
  • Led by their physical play on the defensive end, the Blue and Gold captured a 33-19 lead heading into halftime. Four Setters produced six or more points in the first half with Trey Boyd III and Jaden Kealey leading the charge.
  • The second half presented a different story for New Haven as they rallied back with a 16-4 run bringing the game to a 37-35 score with Pace ahead. The close contest did not last long as the Setters built a double-digit advantage, 55-44, behind a 14-6 run.
  • The Chargers failed to match the intensity of the Setters squad and throughout the remainder of the game, Pace dominated on their way to a 74-61 win at home.
  • With the win, the Setters now sit at 20-4 overall, and 12-4 within the Northeast-10.
Box Score Insights
  • Four members of the Blue and Gold surpassed double-digit points with Jabari Nurse leading the team scoring 15 points. The trio of Tray Alexander (14), Boyd III (12), and Kealey (10) followed behind in the scoring department.
  • Off the bench, Darren Fergus contributed with nine points.
  • An impressive night from the floor led to the Setters finishing with a 52.9% (27-51) field goal percentage alongside a 53.3% (8-15) three-point percentage.
