Women’s Swimming and Dive Prevails in Tight Finish to Defeat Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT. – On Saturday afternoon, the Pace University Women's Swimming and Diving earned a hard-fought 128–122 victory over the University of Bridgeport in a tightly contested dual meet. The Setters delivered a balanced performance across the pool, securing key event wins and consistent scoring efforts to pull out the narrow team win.

Pace found early success as Caroline McKay powered her way to a victory in the 400-meter freestyle, touching first in 4:45.46 to give the Setters an early boost on the scoreboard. McKay remained a steady contributor throughout the afternoon, adding a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle and scoring valuable points in the 100 IM as the meet stayed close from the opening events.

Eugenia Morossi turned in one of the standout performances of the day, dominating the backstroke events. She captured first place in the 50 backstroke with a time of 31.92 before following with another win in the 100 backstroke (1:05.49). Morossi also showcased her versatility by winning the 200 freestyle in 2:13.32, emerging as one of Pace's top point producers as the Setters built momentum.

The Setters' sprint group continued to deliver key points, led by Jeannie Donlevy, who claimed first place in the 50 freestyle at 28.27. Donlevy later added a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle, while Alexei Vinson contributed with a second-place effort in the 50 free and a third-place finish in the 100 free, helping Pace stay narrowly ahead in the team standings.

Additional scoring came from Kathryn Zhenilenko, who placed second in both the 100 butterfly and 50 butterfly, and Sydney Albers, who added points in the 50 breaststroke and 200 freestyle. Sibora Muca and Jordan Barbosa also chipped in with important finishes across the backstroke and freestyle events, keeping the meet within reach heading into the final races.

Pace sealed the victory in the closing event, winning the 200 freestyle relay as the A-relay of Barbosa, McKay, Donlevy, and Vinson touched first in 1:53.44. The relay win proved decisive, allowing the Setters to secure the 128–122 team victory in a thrilling finish.

Up next, Pace returns to dual-meet competition on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. when the Setters host Felician University at their home pool.
