Volleyball Challenged by Conference Leading Bentley in Straight Sets

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing in front of a Saturday afternoon crowd inside the Goldstein Fitness Center, Pace University Volleyball fell in straight sets to first-place Bentley University (25-14, 25-22, 25-22) in Northeast 10 Conference action. The loss moves the Setters to 9-9 overall and 1-6 in league play.

Bentley set the tone early, using an efficient attack to take control of the opening frame. Despite strong defensive work from libero Camila Rodriguez and steady serve-receive, the Setters struggled to generate consistent offense as the Falcons pulled away for a 25-14 win.

Pace rebounded with more energy in the second set, trading points through long rallies and battling to multiple ties. Cyanna Shirley led the charge with several key kills, while Kadence Ackmann and Keelah Chambliss added timely swings at the net. Rodriguez continued to anchor the back row with crisp passing and 11 total digs. Even with the Setters staying within striking distance, Bentley closed on a late run to edge out a 25-22 decision.

The third set proved to be the most competitive of the day, featuring 10 lead changes and 13 ties. Shirley finished with a team-high seven kills, while Ackmann added six kills and two blocks. Setter Aralyn Saulys directed the offense with 10 assists and a pair of service aces, and Jaliyah Johnson contributed defensively with eight digs.

Despite the late push from the Blue and Gold, Bentley held on for another 25–22 win to complete the sweep.

Shirley (7 kills), Ackmann (6 kills, 10 digs), and Chambliss (6 kills) led the Setters offensively. Rodriguez totaled a match-high 11 digs, while Saulys finished with 10 assists and two aces. Pace registered 29 kills and 54 digs across the three-set battle.

The Setters will travel to face the West Chester University Golden Rams on Wednesday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m.
