PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, Pace University Field Hockey delivered a commanding performance, scoring four times in the second half to post a 4-0 shutout of Roberts Wesleyan University. With the win at Peter X. Finnerty Field, the Setters improve to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in Northeast 10 (NE10) Conference play.
The opening 30 minutes featured an aggressive offensive push from Pace, as the Setters piled up 13 shots and eight penalty corners in the first half. Despite controlling possession and applying steady pressure, the match remained scoreless at halftime thanks in part to multiple key saves from the visiting goalkeeper.
The Setters broke through shortly into the third quarter. In the 37th minute,
Sydney Sims capitalized on sustained pressure in the circle, slotting home the game's first goal off a well-timed assist from
Kyleigh Kearney. Just over six minutes later,
Anne Kopec doubled the lead by converting a penalty stroke, giving Pace a 2-0
advantage heading into the final period.
Pace sealed the result with two more tallies in the fourth quarter.
Molly Paterson extended the lead in the 56th minute, finishing off a set-piece opportunity with an assist from
Carlotta Oschmann. The duo connected again less than four minutes later when Oschmann set up
Feline Rook for the Setters' fourth and final goal of the day. Strecker and the Pace backline held firm to secure the clean sheet, allowing just three total shots across 60 minutes.
In total, Pace outshot Roberts Wesleyan by a decisive 31-3 margin and held a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners. Rook led all players with eight shots, while Oschmann recorded a pair of assists to highlight a balanced offensive effort. Strecker finished with two saves to pick up the win in goal, becoming the first Setter goalie to ever record three consecutive shutouts.
The Setters return to the road on Tuesday for a match-up against the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College, set for 7:00 p.m.
