Football Ignites Week Two With New Haven

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Pace Football (0-2) hosted a Friday night lights match-up with the New Haven Chargers at Northwell Stadium.

After a 21-17 first half in favor of the Chargers, the Setters looked to tackle their opponents for the score advantage in second game of the season. Ultimately, the visiting squad held the hosts to nil during the second half for the 47-17 defeat.

Here's What Happened:
  • A competitive and promising first half gave the crowd of Northwell Stadium a show. New Haven was on the board first with a touchdown, but they were soon met with Pace after a 10-play drive completed with a touchdown by Elizjah Lewis, 7-7.
  • The score was scratch after the end of the first, 14-14. Pace continued to have the answer to a New Haven scoring drive and this time it was an Ah-Shaun Davis 75-yard pass to Tyrkee Smith.
  • By the end of the first half, the Chargers held a 21-17 lead over the Setters with the Chargers set to receive the ball to open the second. And with that, the Setters were upended for the remainder of the contest for the NE10 loss, 47-17.
Box Score Insights:
  • Offensivley, Davis threw for 276 yards and recorded two touchdowns. Anthony Robinson rushed for 30-yards and Smith led the receivers with 108, a personal best for the red-shirt senior. Lewis ended the night with 47.
  • Defensively, Jeremy Mendez led the line with seven tackles while Eliot Porter and Daniel Forster had six. Additionally, Forster had 1.0 tackle for loss alongside Jayson Chavous - who also had a sack - and Samuel White.
