PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Tuesday afternoon, the Pace University baseball team was defeated, 7-3, by No. 21 East Stroudsburg University. Following the loss, the Setters fall to 8-6 overall and stay 2-1 within the Northeast-10.
The Warriors jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Setters responded with one of their own in the bottom of the second, off a Josh Miller, sacrifice fly the Blue and Gold tied the game at one heading into the third inning.
In the next two innings, East Stroudsburg added two runs to increase their lead to 3-1, one they would not surrender the rest of the way. In the bottom of the fourth, a solo home run from Cole Resetar shrunk the Warriors' lead to one run 3-2.
Despite the push, the East Stroudsburg hitters continued to find success at the plate scoring two more runs in the top half of the fifth. In the sixth and seventh innings, both sides went quiet on the offensive end with the pitching taking control.
In the eighth, the offense returned, as East Stroudsburg tallied another run to extend their lead to 6-2. In the bottom half of the inning, George Provel provided a pinch-hit double down the left-field line to give the Setters another run. However, the Blue and Gold could not match the production of East Stroudsburg and fell short of the comeback.
