Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Unselfish Setters Dismantle Saint Anselm

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Behind 22 assists on 33 made field goals, the Pace University men's basketball team closed out the regular season in commanding fashion with a 78-57 win over Saint Anselm College at Goldstein Fitness Center.

Pace closes out the regular season 18-10 and 14-8 in NE10 play. Pace earns a bye into the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Championships with the win and will be the four seed in the upcoming tournament.

The game started in a radically different way than it ended, with Saint Anselm hopping out to a 15-7 lead thanks to six points each from Tyler Aubuckle and Sean McCarthy. The lead didn't last long as the Setters proceeded to pounce on the Hawks. Over the course of the next ten minutes, Pace erupted to go on a 26-10 run in which Tray Alexander did a lot of the heavy lifting, supplying 12 of those points. Thanks to the outburst, Pace took an 11-point lead, 38-27, into the break.

The opening minutes of the second half were the undoing for the visitors as right out of the gates, Pace went on a 15-4 run with Bryan Powell leading the way with nine of those 15 to run the lead up to 53-31. From there the floodgates opened and the offense kept coming for the Blue and Gold.

Four Setters finished in double-figures. Powell posted a game-high 20 points to go along with eight helpers. Alexander finished with another double-double, posting 19 points and 10 assists. Jabari Nurse and Jaden Kealey each tallied 11 while Sean Bresnan hauled in 10 rebounds and Marc Dadika sent back four Hawk shots.
