Women's Soccer Caps Off Regular Season Against Adelphi

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Northwell Stadium was energized Wednesday evening when Pace Women's Soccer hosted their final contest of the 2024 regular season versus the Adelphi Panthers.

In what was a battle for the lead, the Setters would edge the Panthers twice until the Panthers came out on top for the 3-2 victory with a goal in the 81st-minute.

Here's What Happened:
  • Pace controlled the tempo during the first half of play when they tallied the first goal of the game in under 10-minutes into regulation. Andrea Flores crossed the ball to the left side of goal and Megan Murphy recorded her first goal of the season for the 1-0 advantage over the Panthers.
  • Passed the halfway point of the first, the score was reset on a Panther goal for a clean slate second half with the score reading 1-1.
  • Setters had the kick off to ignite the second and off the jump, the ball was deflected off of Panther player and bounced to the foot of Taylor Moyer who booted the ball from 27-yards out the swift goal, 2-1.
  • Less than 10-minutes later, the score was tied again, 2-2, and both teams were eager to capture another goal for the lead. By the 81st-minute Adelphi capitalized on a corner kick for the go-ahead goal and the 3-2 victory over the battling Setters.
Box Score Insights:
  • Goal scorers for the blue and gold were Murphy and Moyer while Flores tallied an assist in the night.
  • Moyer and Ava Viebrock paced the team with three shots, Viebrock putting each of her attempts on goal, and Murphy, Keely Donovan, and Shannon Selvaggio had a shot apiece.
  • Annabella Cole played 90-minutes in net for three 2 saves.
Pace Women's Soccer capped off their regular season schedule with an overall 4-8-5 record and a 1-5-4 record in the Northeast-10 Conference.
