Trey Boyd's Late Heroics Lead No. 21 Setters to Victory over Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - No. 21 Pace Men's Basketball hit the road to Rutherford, NJ to play non-conference opponents Felician University Saturday afternoon.

In the event, Felician was highly favored throughout the majority of the day, however, late in the second half Trey Boyd III found his rhythm from the long range and assisted in the 68-63 overtime victory over the Golden Falcons.

Box Score Insights:
  • With seven score ties and 11 lead changes in the contest, the first half of play ended in a tie at 25. Jaden Kealey opened up the Setter scoring with a bucket from behind the arc, 3-1, and would continue to lead the Blue and Gold with a pair of free throws for the tie, 25-25.
  • Kealey tallied Pace's six points to ignite the second half as the squad held the 31-27 advantage over the hosts. After Felician recorded the two point lead, 35-33, they remained out in front until another equalizer for the extra minutes.
  • With a little over three-minutes left in regulation, Jabari Nurse made his way to the free throw line for another pair for the Blue and Gold and Kealey tallied a bucket in the paint to trail by six, 52-46. Tray Alexander made it a two point game, 52-50, with a swift bucket with one minute remaining.
  • Felician made one more free throw to lead the Blue and Gold by three, 53-50, but Boyd came alive and netted a final second three pointer to force extra minutes; his first of the day.
  • Similar to the first two halves, Felician held the advantage over Pace. The duo of Alexander and Boyd put the squad within one, 60-59, and with the Golden Falcons edging the Setters, 62-59, Boyd posted a dagger three for the equalizer at 62. The pair continued to score while locking down on the defensive end and the Setters came out victorious, 69-63.
Box Score Insights:
  • Kealey led the team with a double-double with 27 points, a career-high for the junior, and 12 rebounds. He also wnt 7-7 from the charity stripe and 2-2 from the three-point line. Nurse ended the day second on the team with 10 rebounds.
  • Alexander was second on the team with 14 points and Boyd was right behind with 13. Alexander also filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
  • Pace remains undefeated with a 7-0 record.
