GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Coming into the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference Championship ranked as the No. 5 seed, Pace volleyball matched up against No. 4 Adelphi University Tuesday evening. In the quarterfinal contest on the road, the Setters fell in three sets bringing an end to their 2024 season.
Here's What Happened
- The Panthers owned the court early in the match-up building up an 11-5 lead after a 6-1 run. After a called timeout, the Setters found momentum scoring four of the next six points however, Adelphi stayed consistent the rest of the set claiming a 25-15 win.
- After dropping the opening set, the Setters fought back and trailed by two points midway through set two, 15-13. Despite the strong effort against the Panthers, the home squad pulled away with an 8-3 run closing out the second set, 25-16.
- With their backs against the wall, the Blue and Gold battled in the third set and kept stride with Adelphi. After both teams traded points back and forth, the Blue and Gold found themselves with a 16-14 lead.
- Following a timeout, the Panthers found a spark going on a 5-2 run to snag the lead back, 19-18. Down the final stretch of the set, Adelphi put together a 6-2 which was enough to secure the victory on the night, 25-20.
- Both sides rivaled each other at the net with ten lead changes occurring in the third set.
