FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Pace University Volleyball team secured its fifth win of a row after taking a five set match over Queens College by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 15-11.
Pace will return home and attempt to make it six consecutive wins when they return home on Saturday to face off against Caldwell at 1 p.m.
Everything came down to the final set in one of the most back and fourth matches of the 2023 season for the Setters, with every set but the fourth being decided by two points. Pace hopped out to a 4-1 lead in the final set thanks an attacking error by the Knights followed by kills from
Brielle Jones,
Madisen Lupica and
Karielys Melendez. Queens knotted things up a four-four thanks to a pair of kills and an error by Lupica.
The two teams traded points until 10-10 when the Setters capitalized on an attack error by the Knights and
Georgette Cosentino delivered a pair of aces to create some space, 13-10. The winning point was secured by Melendez, who got the kill of an assist from
Jamie Bittiger.
When the dust had settled, Melendez had 16 kills while Jones finished with 15 and 17 digs for a double-double. Consentino finished with 32 assists and five service aces.
