WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Pace University baseball team won its fifth straight game Saturday afternoon, defeating Bentley University in a 4-0 shutout win.
Senior pitcher
Patrick Gleason (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) got the start on the mound for the Setters (8-1) and was dominant, going seven innings and allowing no runs on five hits, while surrendering no walks and striking out seven Falcons (5-2) batters.
Pace got out to an early lead in the first, loading the bases with one out. An RBI groundout by grad student first baseman
Nate Carminucci (Somers, N.Y./North Salem High School) brought in the opening run of the day as the Setters jumped out to a 1-0 lead.
The Blue and Gold were able to add to their lead in the third, as Carminucci singled with one out to put runners on the corners. Sophomore catcher
Hunter Goldstein (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho) then came to the plate and singled to center, bringing in grad student outfielder
Mitchell McCabe (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford/ Bridgton Academy). A pair of passed balls allowed Carminucci to come in to score, extending the Pace lead to 3-0.
The score stayed the same until the seventh, when the Setters tacked on their final run of the day. With runners on first and second with nobody out, an error by Bentley brought grad student outfielder

Freshman pitcher
Robert Gilchrist (New Milford, Conn./North Salem) came on in relief of Gleason in the eighth inning and shut the door for the Setters. Gleason went the final two innings, allowing no runs, two hits, and three strikeouts to finish out a 4-0 Setters win.
Pace had eight different players record a hit on the day, with Carminucci and Goldstein both picking up an RBI.
