ALBANY, N.Y. – Propelled by a huge second half, the Pace University men's basketball team rattled off an 80-60 win at the College of Saint Rose on Saturday. The road triumph pushes the Setters' record to 18-9 overall and 10-9 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Leading by two points after the opening 20 minutes, Pace poured in 50 points in the second half. It was a 14-0 run that ultimately helped the Setters pull away as they earned a 73-49 lead with less than four minutes remaining.
Individually, senior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) exploded for another 21-point performance. He also registered four rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
Junior
Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass./Tech Boston / Southern Connecticut State) and senior
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush / FDU) also reached double figures with 15 points and 13 points respectively. Powell added a season-high 12 rebounds as well to secure his second double-double of the season.
Collectively, the Setters shot 50 percent from the field (30-for-60) and outrebounded Saint Rose by a remarkable 48-25 margin.
Pace's 80 total points marks their second highest total in regulation this season.
