SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Pace women's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games as the Setters grabbed a road conference victory, 58-54, at Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court. Sophomore forward
Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Putnam Valley) led the scoring for Pace with 15 points. Stockinger also added 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Pace led after the first quarter, 19-13; but Le Moyne came back and won the second quarter to go into the intermission tied at 26. The Dolphins gained the advantage in the third to lead 44-41. The Setters finished off the game outscoring the Dolphins 17-10 in the final stanza.
Graduate guard
Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) also scored in double-figures for the Setters with 12 points to go along with a team-high five assists and two steals. Hackett's 12 points came via a team-high four three-point field goals, while Stockinger and sophomore guard
Mackenzie Koch (Reston, Va./Herndon) both knocked down three triples for the Setters.
The Setters (7-7, 4-4 NE10) shot 12-27 from beyond the arc, which is tied for the most three pointers given up by the Dolphins (10-5, 5-4 NE10) in a single game so far this season. Le Moyne went 3-18 from three-point land. Pace is 5-2 on the road.
Le Moyne was riding a four-game winning streak going into Saturday's contest.
For Le Moyne, redshirt-sophomore forward Haedyn Roberts scored a team-best15 points to go along with seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Emily Florvil contributed five points, five rebound – including three offensive rebounds – two steals and an assist in 16 minutes played.
With less than five minutes left in the game, Le Moyne had a 52-49 lead over Pace.
Sophomore center/forward
Tower Lorde (Saint Michael, Barbados/The St. Michael School) scored on on an offensive putback to cut the Dolphins lead to one, 52-51 with 4:09 left.
The Setters gained back the lead at 3:00 as Hackett sunk a three assisted by Stockinger. Fifty seconds later, a midrange pullup by Collins from the right side of the floor increased Pace's lead to 56-52.
The Dolphins answered right back with a jumper from Sydney Lusher, cutting Le Moyne's lead to two, 56-54.
Le Moyne missed three opportunities down the stretch with Stockinger blocking one layup attempt with 48 seconds remaining.
Still trailing 56-54, Le Moyne took a three with 15 seconds remaining, but it missed short and Pace grabbed the rebound.
Shanice Sinclair (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) was fouled during the next possession and made two free throws for Pace to give them a four-point lead.
Le Moyne was unable to score on their final possession and fell to the Setters by a score of 58-54.
Next up, Pace returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to host American International College at 5:30 p.m. at Goldstein Fitness Center.
