@PaceMBB Rallies For 82-79 OT Road Win At Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- The Pace men's basketball team rallied from a late-game deficit, to win 82-79 in overtime at Adelphi on Tuesday night at Adelphi's Center for Recreation and Sport. The Setters were down by as many as 10 points, 60-50, with just over four minutes to play in regulation. 

Senior forward Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) led four Setter players in double digits with 18 points, shooting 7-for-10 from the floor, 2-for-2 from 3-point range. Senior forward Frankyn Batista (Barahona, Dominican Republic/Hyde / AIC) scored his second double-double in as many games with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Batista shot 50.0 perent from the floor, 6-for-12. He also added two assists and two steals to his stat total. 

Senior guard Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush / FDU) was close behind Batista and his brother with 16 points. He also added three steals. Junior guard Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass./Tech Boston / Southern Connecticut State) also scored in double figures with 10 points. 

In overtime, Pace shot 80.0 percent, making four of five field goal attempts. 

Pace's largest lead of the entire game was with 9:24 left in the first half, 16-11. 

Adelphi was led by Dayshaun Walton who scored 32 points on 10-for-16 shooting and 5-for-7 from 3. Walton also added seven rebounds. Elijah Lewis added 20 points, Mason Jackson netted 11 and Ronnie Silva added 10. Adelphi (6-9 overall, 0-7 NE10) shot 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the floor in the second half. 

Regulation play ended with the score knotted at 68-68. 

With the win, Pace (12-3, 4-3 NE10) extends its current winning streak to six games. The Setters will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 7 for a 3 p.m. contest against Franklin Pierce. 

The Setters were receiving votes in the latest D2SIDA national poll. Pace is ranked third in the region.
