Pace Volleyball Defeated in Five Sets to Saint Rose

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Going the distance for the fourth time this season, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated in five sets to the College of Saint Rose on Saturday. The Setters earned wins in the first two frames (25-15, 25-16) before dropping three straight sets (16-25, 20-25, 8-15) to the Golden Knights.

It was a balanced attack for Pace as the home squad had three different players record double-figure kills for the third time this season.

Junior Madisen Lupica (Buchanon, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) served as the team leader with 14 putaways while classmates Cydney Gardner (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) and Jada Screen (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) chipped in 12 and 10 respectively.

Freshman Anita Rose Berisha (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./International Academy) also performed well on the attack with 8 kills of her own.

Most of the Setters' points were orchestrated by sophomore Georgette Cosentino (Scarsdale, N.Y./The Ursuline School) who finished with 45 assists. The Westchester County native, who also added 17 digs in the match, continues to be ranked fourth in the NE10 in helpers per set this season.

On the defensive side of things, it was senior Jamie Bittiger (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) posting a team-high 26 digs—her second highest total of the year. She is currently slotted eighth in the NE10 in digs per set this season.

In terms of blocks, it was five Setters recording at least one in the contest.
