EASTON, Mass. – In the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament, the Pace University women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-15 contest to top-seeded Stonehill on Saturday. The loss shifts the Setters' record to 14-5 this season.
It was a tale of two very different halves for Pace as the Setters were unable to hold onto a 10-3 halftime lead. The Blue and Gold were outscored by Stonehill, 17-5, over the final 30 minutes of regulation.
Sophomore
Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) led the Setters' offense with a game-high six goals. She is now Pace's top scorer this season with 60 tallies. Porcello and senior
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) are tied for the team lead with 72 total points.
Jaimie Bell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) and
Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) supplemented Pace's attack with a pair of hat tricks while freshman
Nikki Mottes (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) chipped in two goals of her own. Juvelier also dished out Pace's lone assist in the contest.
In other notable numbers, sophomore
Alexandra Quinn (Eastport, NY/Eastport South Manor) led the Blue and Gold in both ground balls (4) and caused turnovers (3). Porcello also picked up four ground balls.
