#Pace1906 Raises More than $27,000 For Athletics

Thank You Setter Nation!

On April 27-28, the Pace University Community participated in the 1906 Challenge, a giving day targeted at engaging all of the Pace Community for 1,906 minutes. With 196 donors, consisting of alumni, friends, staff, family and students, Pace Athletics reached more than $27,000 for its 15 varsity athletics teams.

The goal of this year's challenge was set high at $50,000 and with alumni and family events happening for athletics this weekend in Pleasantville, the Setters are still accepting donations toward the challenge. Pace University surpassed its community giving goal of $150,000 during the two-day giving event.

Leading the way for Pace Athletics was the NCAA East Regional women's basketball program, raising more than $7,000 for their team. Right behind was Pace football, with more than $5,000 raised for the Setter Gridiron fund. Pace Football will host a spring game at noon on Saturday, April 30, welcoming Pace football families to see the hard work the squad has been putting in all spring.

The #Pace1906 challenge celebrates the history, growth of the University and the bright future ahead. The purpose of this Giving Day is to increase philanthropic support among the Pace community and increase alumni participation for this fiscal year. For athletics, 40 percent of the funds raised were from alumni. Additionally, alumni Jerry McAuliffe '86, Gene Westmoreland '65 and Kim Farrell '00 offered matching gifts for donors. Women's basketball head coach Carrie Seymour also offered a matching challenge as did Mike and Lori McLaughlin, parents of 2019 alum Luke.

The Setters Club recognizes two standalone giving days during the fiscal year with Giving Tuesday in addition to the 1906 Challenge. This year to date, over the course of the two giving days, more than $75,000 was raised for Setter student-athletes through more than 650 donors.

With the help of Setters Club donors, Pace Athletics programs can continue to compete on a high level within the NE10 and the NCAA Division II.

The challenge isn't over! Gifts to your favorite teams are always accepted. Click here to donate
