Men's Basketball Falls to Franklin Pierce in NE10 Semifinals, 81-75

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Appearing in the NE10 Semifinals for the first time since 2007, the Pace University men's basketball team dropped an 81-75 contest to Franklin Pierce on Thursday night. The loss shifts the Setters' record to 19-9 this season.

With the score tied at 72-72 with less than two minutes remaining, it was a four-point play by the Ravens' Maxwell Zegarowski that proved to be a deciding factor.

The Setters responded with a three-pointer on the other side courtesy of Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), but another three-ball, this time by Franklin Pierce's Sean Trumper, was the dagger with 54 seconds on the clock.

Pace put five players in double figures against the Ravens. Junior Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds to pick up his fifth double-double of the season. He also tallied a game-high three blocks.

Junior Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) followed with 16 points, in addition to dishing out a team-high five assists.

Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) chipped in 15 points and six rebounds, while Dominick Cristiano (Valhalla, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic/Greens Farm Academy) and Austin Gilbertson (Etters, Pa./Trinity) registered 12 and 10 points respectively.
