Pace Women's Basketball Edges USciences to Advance to NCAA Regional Final

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Still Dancin! The Pace University women's basketball team continued its postseason run with a 65-60 win over third-seeded USciences in the NCAA East Regional semifinals on Saturday night.

The seventh-seeded Setters (23-7) will now face the winner of Daemen College/Jefferson University in the East Regional finals on Monday night.

Pace was able to hold off the Devils thanks to a stellar defensive performance in the fourth quarter. The Setters limited USciences to just five made field goals in the final 10 minutes.

Ahead by three points with 1:13 remaining, the Setters strung together four consecutive stops before icing the game away with free throws in the final seconds.

Senior guard Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) enjoyed one of the best games of her career to lead the Blue and Gold. The Long Island native went off for 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals in 38 minutes.

Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) joined Hackett in double figures with 17 points, to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Schetter has now tallied at least 17 points in a remarkable 21 contests this season.

Following the Lauren duo, it was a terrific team effort for Pace. Six other Setters notched at least one field goal, while eight different players recorded at least one assist.

Pace's leading scorer in last night's win, Katumina Mansaray (Ontario, Canada/Cardinal Newman Secondary School/Tilton School), chipped in nine more points on Saturday. She is now 7-for-13 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line in two NCAA contests.

Up Next
The Setters will take on either eighth-seeded Daemen College or fourth-seeded Jefferson University on Monday night. The winner of that contest will represent the East Region in the NCAA Elite Eight.
