Pace Women's Basketball Defeats Franklin Pierce, 54-46

RIDGE, N.H. -- The Pace women's basketball team defeated Franklin Pierce, 54-46, on Friday afternoon at The Fieldhouse. Setter sophomore guard Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Putnam Valley) and grad guard Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) led Pace with 12 points each. The contest was evenly matched until the fourth quarter, where the Blue and Gold outscored the Ravens 17-11.

The win was the first league win for Pace.

It was a tight first half between the two teams, with five lead changes throughout the opening 10 minutes. Pace finished the first quarter ahead, 14-13. The second quarter was tied  up at 12, giving the Setters a 26-25 lead at halftime. The Ravens even had a short lead in the second quarter, up four, 23-19, with under four to play. Two threes drained by Quain put the Setters back on top.

The third quarter score was also low as each team scored 11 points each, and Pace held on to a one-point lead.

In the fourth quarter, Franklin Pierce opened up scoring gaining a 38-37 lead with 9:03 on the clock.

The Setters once again answered with long range buckets as grad guard Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and freshman forward Morgan Ryan (Plainfield, N.J./Rutgers Prep) each netted a three, giving Pace back a 43-38 advantage, which Pace was able to hold on to for the remainder of the contest.

Pace took advantage of 19 points off Franklin Pierce turnovers.

Quain was 4-for-7 from three. Stockinger shot 2-for-3 from three-point land.

Freshman forward Ciara Collins (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) led Pace in rebounding with seven boards.
