Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush / FDU) finished Saturday afternoon's contest with 20 points, bringing his career point total to 1,001 as he led Pace men's basketball to a 67-56 win over Southern New Hampshire University at Goldstein Fitness Center. Powell shot 7-for-12 from the field. His seven buckets were a season-best. Powell, a transfer from FDU, scored 531 of his 1,001 points donning the Blue and Gold.

Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) added 15, shooting 6-for-10 from the floor and playing most of the second half with four fouls . Junior guard
Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass./Tech Boston / Southern Connecticut State) had 14. Senior forward
Christian Adams (New Haven, Conn./Hamden Hall) added 11.
With the win, Pace advances to 6-2 on the season, 2-2 in NE10 action. SNHU falls to 4-4 overall, 2-2 in the NE10.
The Setters had a 32-16 advantage on points in the paint and a 21-10 edge on points off turnovers.
In the first half, Pace jumped out to a 15-5 lead after a Bennet layup halfway through the first stanza. By halftime, Pace remained in control with a 25-19 lead.
SNHU stayed in the game and with nine minutes left, the Penmen had cut the Pace lead to two, 44-42. In the next four minutes, Pace built a gap, going up by nine, 53-44.
In the last 1;20 of the game, Pace netted five free throws to maintain a large enough gap.
Next up the Setters will host Bentley on Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the second game of a women's and men's basketball doubleheader. Game time is approximately at 7:30 p.m. at Goldstein Fitness Center.
