PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pace University field hockey team finished the regular season with a 7-2 victory over visiting Franklin Pierce on Saturday evening at Finnerty Field.
Prior to the start of the game, the Setters honored its five senior field hockey student-athletes:
Eliza Stevens (Brewster, Mass./Nauset Regional),
Eveline Bussemaker (Bussum, North-Holland/Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum),
Hannah Wyllie (Guildford, England/George Abbot School), Jessica Wolf and
Katie Donovan (York, Maine/York).
Stevens scored a hat trick in the win with three goals. Sophomore midfielder Noelle Meij tallied three assists. Also scoring for Pace was Bussemaker, freshman midfielder
Tavia Flecksteiner (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), junior defender
Kate Demars (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) and sophomore midfielder/forward
Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac). Dietz also recorded an assist.
Pace outshot Franklin Pierce (4-14, 3-10 NE10) 18-12, 13-8 in shots on goal. Pace also had eight penalty corners to Franklin Pierce's five.
It was the second time this season, Pace netted seven goals.
With the win, Pace finished the regular season with an 11-7 record, 8-5 in the NE10. The Setters qualified for the NE10 championship with the No. 7 Seed. Pace field hockey will play at No. 2 Assumption on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
