AMHERST, N.Y. – Playing for the first time in over three weeks, the Pace University men's basketball team was defeated at Daemen College on Wednesday night by a score of 83-72. The loss moves the Setters' record to 8-3 this season.
In a tight game throughout, it was an 11-0 run in the second half that proved to be the difference. Daemen turned a four-point lead into an 81-66 edge with 3:28 remaining in regulation.
Pace's attack featured four players in double figures, including a team-high 18-point output from senior
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford). He also chipped in a team-best nine rebounds.
Junior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) finished with 15 points in the game, while his brother
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) added 13.
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) joined in with 11 points of his own, while leading the team with five assists.
Free-throw shooting was a huge factor on Wednesday night. The Wildcats finished 22-of-24 from the charity stripe, while Pace was 3-for-3. Both teams made a total of 11 three-pointers.
