SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Playing at fourth-seeded Le Moyne in the first round of the NE10 Tournament, the Pace University softball team had its season end on Tuesday afternoon courtesy of a 2-0 loss to the Dolphins.
The Setters were only able to string together three hits in the contest as Le Moyne's Laura Bennett tossed a complete-game shutout.
Freshman
Kaylani Miller (Los Angeles, Calif./Village Christian) registered her sixth triple of the season with two outs in the first inning, while
Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, Ore./Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) knocked a single in the second and
Arianna Guarracino (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) tallied a base hit in the sixth.
Miller's six triples during her rookie campaign is tied for fourth in a single season in program history. She also finishes 2021 as Pace's leader in batting average (.385), RBIs (22), slugging percentage (.718), and on-base percentage (.402).
Graduate student
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W Baker) pitched well in defeat, allowing just the two runs across six innings of action. She finished with a pair of strikeouts, while yielding six Le Moyne hits.
Bernet completes her terrific Pace career ranked within the top-10 of nearly every pitching statistic. Most notably, she holds the fourth lowest ERA in program history across nearly 400 innings pitched.
