PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In a back-and-forth battle between two of the top three seeds in the tournament, the Pace University women's lacrosse team (9-4) was defeated by Adelphi in the NE10 Divisional Semifinals on Monday night by a score of 18-12.
With the Setters up 11-10 in the second half, Adelphi used an 8-1 run across the final 17:28 of regulation to pull away with the win.
The Blue and Gold burst out to a 3-0 lead in the contest before a 6-2 run to end the half propelled them to a 9-7 advantage at halftime.
Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) broke a 10-10 tie at the 19:43 mark of the second half prior to Adelphi's game-ending stretch.
Corretjer led the Pace attack on Monday with a team-high five goals and seven total points. She posted four of those tallies in the first half.
Senior
Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), who leads the NE10 in scoring this season, added to her total with three goals and an assist. She also chipped in a team-high and season-high eight draw controls.
Sophomore
Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) also registered multiple points for Pace, finishing the game with two goals and two assists.
Junior
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) and sophomore
Christen Lapple (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood) rounded out Pace's scoring with a goal apiece.
