PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Going on the road for the first time this season, the Pace University men's basketball team tallied an 88-78 win at the University of the Sciences on Wednesday night. The victory pushes the Setters' record to 3-0 in the early going of 2021-22.
It was a great finish to the first half that helped fuel the Blue and Gold in their third triumph of the year. Up 31-25 with 5:34 left, Pace put together a 12-3 run to open up a 15-point lead at the break.
The Setters went on to lead by double digits throughout the second half, including a game-high 21-point edge with 11:19 remaining in regulation.
Graduate student
Dominick Cristiano (Valhalla, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic/Greens Farm Academy) erupted for Pace in just his third game with the Setters. The NYU transfer went off for a game-high 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting. He also nabbed 13 rebounds for his 18th career double-double.
Junior
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) also neared a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds, in addition to registering a pair of blocks.
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) and
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford) joined Cristiano in double figures, combining for 21 points. Jacobs also chipped in team-highs in both assists (5) and steals (3).
As a team, the Setters posted a dominant night under the glass. Pace's 54-25 edge on the boards was highlighted by a total of 20 offensive rebounds. Â
