SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Pace University men's basketball team played an exhibition contest against Syracuse University inside the historic Carrier Dome on Wednesday night. The Setters were defeated by the Orange by a 79-60 margin.
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) led Pace's offense in his first action as a Setter. The junior transfer scored 15 points, while also recording seven rebounds and a steal.
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) and
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) also reached double figures, notching 13 and 11 points respectively. Powell also chipped in four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Graduate guard,
Austin Gilbertson (Etters, Pa./Trinity), led the Setters with a game-high nine assists in the contest.
The Setters' offense was highlighted by the long ball in the second half. Pace knocked in seven of 15 attempts from three-point range in the final 20 minutes of action.
The Blue and Gold were able to get 13 players in the game, while 10 Setters finished with at least two points.

The Setters will officially open their 2021-22 season with a pair of home games on Nov. 13-14.
