PHILDADELPHIA, Pa. – In their first action since a season-opening trip to Virginia, the Pace University softball team split a doubleheader at Holy Family University on Tuesday afternoon. The 1-1 day puts the Setters' record at 7-1 so far this spring.
Game 2 – Pace 10, Holy Family 5
The Setters rebounded nicely from the opening loss, jumping out to an early lead in the second game of the day.
Pace scored four runs in the top of the first inning courtesy of RBI hits from Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, Ore./Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School), Jillian Gartner (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) and Raechelle Seil (Port Orchard, Wash./South Kitsap High School).
Iverson added an RBI single in the seventh inning as well while Emma Carruth (Torrance, Calif./Beverly Hills) and Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) also knocked in runs in the victory.
Gartner and Seil each finished the second contest 3-for-4 at the plate while three other Setters put together multiple hits in the game.
In the circle, it was Kate Dolinski (Fort Langley, British Columbia/Yale Secondary) leading the way. The right-hander went the distance with eight strikeouts, on the way to moving her record to 2-0 this season.
Game 1 – Holy Family 6, Pace 2
Iverson launched Pace's first home run of the season in the first game of the day. The Setters were only able to muster one other hit in the outing, which came off the bat of freshman Gwen Pederson (Sylmar, Calif./Granada Hills Charter).
