MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Pace University softball season came to a close on Friday afternoon as the Setters fell in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament against Adelphi, 4-0.
The Blue and Gold were unable to solve Adelphi's Ally Muller in the circle, who tossed a complete game while allowing just four hits.
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) went the distance for Pace, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out two in her six innings of work. The junior's strong season comes to an end with 109 innings pitched and a team-leading 2.38 ERA.
Briana Ryan (Wilmington, CA/Carson) led Pace at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double.
Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) also had a two-bagger on the day to go along with a pair of walks.
Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) accounted for Pace's other hit in the contest with a single in the second inning.
The Panthers put three runs on the board in the bottom of the third. The Setters looked poised to get on the board themselves in the fourth after a pair of Adelphi errors loaded the bases, but Muller was able to draw a popup to escape the jam.
Adelphi added a run in the fifth on an RBI double by Emily Turney, while Pace wouldn't get another runner past first base until the seventh. Ryan's one-out double put runners on second and third, but they would be held there as a lineout and groundout closed out the contest.
