COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Pace University volleyball team closed out its season on a high note on Saturday, putting together a three-set sweep (25-16, 25-15, 25-23) of Saint Michael's College.
The Setters were led in their final outing by a versatile attack that featured four players with at least seven kills. Sophomore
Sandra Yang (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway) finished with a team-high 12 putaways, while freshman
Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) nearly missed a double-double with nine kills and eight digs.
Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and
Jamie Soldinger (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) each tallied seven kills in the contest, while
Samantha Nidini (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) dished out a stellar 27 assists in just three sets. Nidini also picked up seven digs.
Defensively,
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) racked up a team-best 17 digs, while Byrne and
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani) each recorded a solo block. Calimpong-Burke also rattled off a team-high three service aces.
