Pace Football Wins Season Finale at SCSU, 34-20

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Pace University football team concluded its 2019 season in style, defeating Southern Connecticut State University, 34-20, on Saturday afternoon. The Setters finish the year with an overall record of 6-4, marking the first time the program has posted back-to-back winning seasons since 1996 (7-3 record in 2018).

Offensive weapons, Darius Jones (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Jhalen Bien-Aime (Dorchester, Mass./Bridgton Academy), led the way for Pace in their final game wearing Blue and Gold while further cementing their legacies into the program record book.

Jones reeled in touchdown receptions No. 12 and 13 on the year, breaking the record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season by a Setter. Previous record holder, Rob Fehrenbach, caught 12 touchdown passes in the 1986 season.

In addition to a pair of touchdown grabs, Jones chalked-up a career-high 152 receiving yards marking the fourth time he's surpassed 100-yards in a game this season and the second time he's eclipsed 150 this fall. He finishes the year as the first player in program history to lead the NE10 in receiving touchdowns.

Bien-Aime tied a career-high with 210 rushing yards on Saturday en route to becoming the only Setter in program history to reach 3,000 career rushing yards. Bien-Aime puts a cap on his career with 3,186 yards on the ground. Bien-Aime scored on a 5-yard plunge and also ripped off a 56-yard carry on the afternoon. The last time Bien-Aime rushed for 210 yards in a game was just a season ago against Bentley University.

Quarterback Carlton Aiken (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro) registered a big day as well, completing 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 251 yards and two touchdowns. He also added two more scores on the ground, marking the first time he's rushed and passed for a pair of touchdowns in the same game. Aiken finishes the year as the first Pace quarterback to lead the NE10 in passing touchdowns (19).

On defense, the Setters forced a pair of fumbles courtesy of Shaquil Jones (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) and Jamie Fenelus (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) while defensive back Isaiah Copes (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) recorded his first career interception. Jones also recorded a career-high two tackles for a loss of yards.
