Pace Women's Basketball Defeated by Stonehill, 64-59

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's basketball team was defeated by Stonehill College on Tuesday night by a score of 64-59. The loss moves the Setters to 5-8 inside the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Skyhawks improve to 9-4.

Inside the Numbers
*The Setters put three in double figures, led by 18 points from sophomore Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School). Schetter also added four rebounds and two steals.

*Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) followed Schetter with 16 points, while Brianna Wong (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) chipped in 10 of her own. The duo also each tallied six rebounds, while Wong led Pace in both assists (five) and steals (four).

*Sophomore Naya Rivera (Pomona, NY/North Rockland) served as the Setters' high rebounder, notching a career-high eight boards. Schetter, DelliSanti, and Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) each recorded two steals in the game.

*Pace, which leads the conference in steals per game in league play, registered 11 more on Tuesday night. The Setters have now racked up 10 or more takeaways in seven contests this season.

How it Happened
Stonehill methodically built up its lead across the first three quarters before Pace rapidly turned the tables in the beginning of the fourth.

The Setters trailed by six after one, by seven after two and by as many as 15 in the third quarter. Pace, however, never wilted. The Blue and Gold rattled off a 20-5 run to take a lead in the fourth quarter—its first since 2-0 in the first. A layup from Rivera capped off the run, and provided Pace with a 49-48 lead at the 7:24 mark of the fourth.

Following another basket by Wong to give the Setters a 51-48 lead, Stonehill responded with a 9-1 run to take back a five-point edge at the 4:14 mark. Pace would once again come back to within one on two more occasions—the final one coming at 60-59 with 1:39 left.

Pace was unable to score the rest of the way as four free throws from the Skyhawks closed out the final margin at 64-59.

The Setters will play their next two on the road, beginning with a trip to Bentley on Saturday afternoon.
