Pace Men's Basketball Defeated at No. 14 Saint Anselm, 73-62

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Facing one of their toughest opponents of the season on the road, the Pace University men's basketball team was defeated by 14th-ranked Saint Anselm College on Wednesday night, 73-62. The loss shifts the Setters to 11-8 overall, and 5-6 inside the Northeast-10 Conference.

Inside the Numbers
*Junior Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional) compiled his best stat line of the season, finishing the game with 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

*Wejnert put together a 9-of-16 effort from the field en route to recording his sixth double-double of the season.

*Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, NY/Long Island Lutheran) was Pace's other player in double figures, tallying 16 points. He also dished out seven assists. Jacobs has now recorded six or more assists in a game on nine occasions this season.

*The Setters finished the night 21-of-65 from the field, tying a season-low in field-goal percentage (32.3). Pace's shooting effort included an 8-for-28 (28.6 percent) clip from beyond the arc.

*On the other side, Saint Anselm knocked in 10-of-24 from three-point land and finished 21-for-25 from the free-throw line.

How it Happened
Saint Anselm, which held a lead for nearly 37 minutes in the contest, put together a 9-0 run in the first half to take a 22-12 lead with 7:45 left. Pace answered with an 8-0 run of its own to cut the edge to 22-20 at the 4:15 mark.

The Hawks would go on to take a four-point lead into the break following a Ray Montilus (Union, NJ/Pope John XXII) three-pointer with six seconds on the clock.

Following a back-and-forth beginning of the second half, Saint Anselm built up its lead back up to 47-36 with 12:49 remaining.

After Pace cut the advantage to just 62-60 on a Jacobs' three-point play, the Hawks finished the game on an 11-2 run over the final 3:40 of regulation.
