PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University baseball team dropped a 15-4 contest to the College of Saint Rose on Sunday afternoon at Finnerty Field. The Setters, who honored their eight seniors prior to the game, fall to 15-14-1 this season and 7-6 against the NE10 Southwest Division.
The Golden Knights put together 20 hits on the day, which fueled three separate five-run innings in the third, seventh, and ninth. Nicolas Teitter led Saint Rose with four hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Setters' four runs came off one in the third, and three in the eighth. Freshman
Matt Almonte (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) enjoyed the most success for Pace, going 2-for-3 with a walk.
Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee) Paul Piccolino (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell), and
Greg Tsouprakos (West Islip, NY/West Islip) each chipped in RBI hits for the Blue and Gold. Piccolino's hit marked the 101st in his career.
Ryan Crowley (Cornwall on Hudson, NY/Iona Prep/Monmouth) also knocked in a run off a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
