KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Playing in the final game of their spring break trip to Florida, the Pace University baseball team fell 12-6 to Northwood University on Friday afternoon. The Setters will return home holding a 5-4-1 record this season.
Inside the Numbers
*The Setters had eight different players record a hit and five different players drive in a run. Senior
Michael Gulino (Meriden, CT/Maloney) led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
*
Brian Bohlander (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) also reached base three times off a hit and two walks, while driving in a pair. Junior
Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee) was the final Setter with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-5 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
*Pace put five pitchers on the mound. Junior
Bryce Donovan (Amherst, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) enjoyed the most success, striking out two in a pair of scoreless innings. Senior
Ryan Aquino (Mamaroneck, NY/Rye Neck) suffered the loss, allowing five runs in the third inning before leaving the game.
*Northwood finished the contest with 15 hits, which marked a season-high given up for Pace. Michael Karam led the Timberwolves' attack, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Pace jumped on the board first with a pair of runs in the third inning. Gulino tallied an RBI groundout to score
Paul Piccolino (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) while Barbato knocked an RBI single to score
Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick).
Northwood answered right away with a seven-run outburst in the bottom half of the inning. The Timberwolves began the inning with five hits and two walks before Pace was able to record an out. Karam and Javier Martinez each knocked in a pair in the frame.
Northwood added another run in the fourth and three more in the seventh, as Pace was unable to cut the deficit to less than five.
Matthew Kurdewan (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) drove in a run for Pace in the fifth inning with an RBI single while Bohlander tripled in a pair in the seventh.
A sacrifice fly from
Matt Bass (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) in the seventh capped off the Blue and Gold's scoring for the day.
