KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Despite scoring a pair of runs in the ninth inning to force extras, the Pace University baseball team dropped an 8-7 contest to Minnesota Crookston in 11 innings on Monday afternoon. The loss shifts the Setters' record to 4-1-1 on the season.
Inside the Numbers
*Pace's offense, which featured a season-high 15 hits, was led by
Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick), who went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Ryan Crowley (Cornwall on Hudson, NY/Iona Prep/Monmouth) and
Paul Piccolino (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) also registered multi-hit games for the Setters, combining to go 6-for-11 with two walks at the top of Pace's lineup. Crowley also knocked in a pair.

Felix Camacho (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond's High School for Boys / Westchester Community College) was Pace's final run producer of the game, hammering a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
*The Setters had seven different pitchers take the mound in the contest.
Joe Pizzingrillo (Garden City, NY/Chaminade) was the most effective for the Blue and Gold, tossing three scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts.
*Minnesota Crookston scored the game's first four runs while Pace scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning to force extra innings.
How it Happened
The Golden Eagles jumped out a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off a solo home run and pair of RBI singles.
The Setters evened the score in the fifth with a four-spot of their own. Salmonese got the scoring started with an RBI triple to right-center field. Piccolino scored on the play after leading off the frame with a single. Gulino followed Salmonese with an RBI double to center while Camacho tied the game up with a long ball over the left-field wall.
Minnesota Crookston went back on top in the seventh inning off a sacrifice fly from Jonathan Lund.
Salmonese struck again in the eighth, tying the score back up at 5-5 with a RBI single to left field. Freshman
Harrison Treble (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay/St. Bonaventure) crossed home plate after knocking a one-out single to begin the rally.
The Golden Eagles continued the back and forth action with two more runs in the bottom half of the eighth to take a 7-5 lead. Anthony Stewart and Reed Hjelle each posted RBI hits.
Down to their final three outs, Pace rallied to tie the game back up in the ninth inning. Crowley provided the heroics with a two-out single to left field to score
Riley Iafrate (Harrington Park, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) and
Matt Almonte (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle).
Following two scoreless extra innings, Minnesota Crookston walked off with the win in the 11
th. Mitchell Bornhauser was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the game-winning run.
