Pace Baseball's Hank Manning to Receive the 2019 Ralph DiLullo Award

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Hank Manning, head coach of the Pace University baseball team, will be recognized by the New York Professional Baseball Hot Stove League on Jan. 25 with the Ralph DiLullo Award.

The Ralph DiLullo Award is presented annually to a college coach in recognition of their service to the game of college baseball. Ralph DiLullo spent more than 60 years in baseball as a player, manager and scout, and was seen as one of the premier figures of baseball in the northeast, being called "baseball's premier scout" by the Los Angeles Times.

"I'm honored to be selected for this prestigious award" said Manning. "Ralph DiLullo was a great baseball man who did a lot for amateur baseball, not only in the Metropolitan area, but across the country. To be recognized by the professional scouts with an award in his name is a great distinction for Pace baseball."

Manning, who is entering his 19th season managing the Setters, has put together a stellar career in Pleasantville. Most recently, he became the winningest coach in program history last spring, surpassing Fred Calaicone's record of 397 victories. Manning followed up with win No. 400 before leading Pace to their fourth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

Manning's tenure with Pace also features being named the NE10 Coach of the Year in 2012, and directing the Setters to their second-ever berth into the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2013. Manning has guided Pace to five 30-win seasons over the last 13 years, including a program record of 34 in 2006.

In addition to the team success, Manning's squads have yielded terrific individual accomplishments as well. The Setters have had 43 NE10 All-Conference selections under Manning, while six of his players have been named Pace's Male Athlete of the Year. Manning has also coached 10 players that went on to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

The New York Professional Baseball Hot Stove League enters its 54th year in 2019, and is made up of professional baseball scouts based around the New York Metropolitan area.

Manning will be honored at the league's annual awards dinner on Friday, Jan. 25 at Leonard's of Great Neck, N.Y., beginning at 6:30 p.m.
