Pace Volleyball Drops 3-2 Contest at Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Pace University volleyball team was defeated at Holy Family University (20-5) on Tuesday night by a 3-2 margin (25-16, 25-17, 16-25, 16-25, 10-15). The loss shifts the Setters' record to 17-5 overall this season, while maintaining a 6-2 mark inside the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Blue and Gold were victorious in each of the first two sets against the Lions, 25-16 and 25-17, but were unable to clinch the match. Holy Family earned final-game wins of 25-16, 25-16 and 15-10.

Kathleen Benson (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) led the Pace attack as she put together her best match of the season so far. The senior racked up a season-high 14 kills while hitting a team-best .522. She also recorded her team-high 17th solo block of the season.

Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) joined her classmate in double figures with 11 kills on the night. She also collected 11 digs to register her fifth-straight double-double. Junior Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) helped the attack with seven kills, while Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) finished the match with 19 assists and 11 digs. Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) finished just behind Nidini with 17 assists of her own.

Junior Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) picked up the most digs for Pace in the match with 14, to go along with a pair of service aces.
