How it Happened
It was a tough start for the visitors, who after allowing an opening-drive touchdown to Assumption, fumbled the ensuing kickoff. Facing a shortened field, the Greyhounds punched it in again to take a 14-0 lead just 2:01 into the contest.
The home team kept the momentum rolling, tacking on two more scores in the first quarter, and another two in the second, to take a 42-0 lead into the break.
The Blue and Gold had their chances in the first half, driving the ball into the Assumption red zone on back-to-back occasions in the second quarter. Attempting to cut into the lead, Pace turned the ball each time.
Pace racked up 140 yards of offense in the first half, but were unable to put any points on the board.
Assumption put two more touchdowns on the board in the second half, including one with 33 seconds left in regulation.
Up Next
The Setters will return home next Friday night for a contest against AIC. Kickoff from Pace Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
