NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Southwest Division No. 2-seed Pace University softball team was eliminated from Northeast-10 Conference Softball Championship Weekend Thursday afternoon after dropping a 5-1 decision to Northeast Division No. 4 Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in the Quarterfinals of the tournament at Merrimack College's Warrior Softball Diamond.
SCORING PLAYS
Top 3rd – SNHU
- After center fielder Katie Horiuchi drew a two-out walk, catcher Erin Garczynski hit a two-run homer over the wall in left field to put the Penmen ahead, 2-0.
Bottom 5th – Pace
- Senior catcher
Nikole Larm (Brewster, NY/Brewster) led off the fifth reaching base on a catcher's interference.
- Sophomore first baseman
Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) then drew a walk.
- Later, junior center fielder
Larissa Labs (Carlsbad, CA/San Marcos High School) pulled a single through the right side, bringing Pace's first run in to cut the deficit in half.
Top 6th – SNHU
- Left fielder Devan Rabidou was standing on third with two outs when shortstop Brittany Perdigao singled her in to make it a 3-1 game.
- Horiuchi then doubled to right-center, scoring Perdigao to put SNHU ahead by three.
Top 7th – SNHU
- Designated player Sarah Lavallee walked to lead off the seventh, and was pinch run for by Kailey March.
- March was sacrificed over to second, and then reached third on a wild pitch.
- Second baseman Hannah Neverett drove her in on a sacrifice fly to right, putting SNHU up, 5-1.
PITCHING DECISIONS
