EASTON, Mass. – The No. 5-seed Pace University women's lacrosse team, playing in its second straight Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament in just the third year of the program, fell to fourth-seeded Stonehill College by a score of 16-9 Wednesday evening in the NE10 Championship First Round at W.B. Mason Stadium. The Setters are eliminated from the tournament, while Stonehill advances to take on top-seeded Le Moyne College in Saturday's semifinal round.
RECORD SETTERS
- Juniors
Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) and
Abby Haimson (Montville, NJ/Montville) capped off historical seasons for the Setters on Wednesday.
- With four goals on Wednesday, Gelderman finishes the season with a new program record of 61 goals, pushing her career total to 150.
- Haimson scored twice and finishes just a single goal behind Gelderman with 60, but adds 15 assists for a program-best 75 points in 2017.
- Gelderman and Haimson now rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on the NE10 goals list this season.
- Gelderman also set single-season records with 65 ground balls and 66 draw controls this year.
FIRST HALF
- Stonehill got on the board first when Elizabeth Vetter scored at the 25:40 mark to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Three minutes later, Taylor Shannahan made it 2-0, and then Shannon Booth added the third Skyhawk goal just 36 seconds after that to make it a 3-0 game.
- Haimson netted Pace's first goal at 21:13 to make it a 3-1 game.
- Jennifer Wheaton then scored for the Skyhawks to give the home team a 4-1 edge with 18:23 left in the first half.
- Brianna Doherty make it a 5-1 lead for the Skyhawks at the 12:38 mark.
- Junior
Emily Ankabrandt (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) then scored off a feed from freshman
Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) to cut the deficit to three.
- Gelderman got in on the action 53 seconds later to get the Setters within two at 5-3.
- The Skyhawks then took a five-goal lead when Kaitlin Healey scored three-straight goals to put them up, 8-3.
- Kiki Ryan added one more with 44 seconds remaining to send the game to the half with the Skyhawks up, 9-3.
SECOND HALF
- Lonegan opened the scoring in the second half nearly six minutes in to get Pace back within five.
- Wheaton then scored to make it a 10-4 game.
- Junior
Angela Kelly (Garnerville, NY/North Rockland) made it a five-goal game once again when she scored at the 18:34 mark, but Vetter responded a couple minutes later to make it an 11-5 Stonehill lead.
- MacKenzie Pleshaw added another Skyhawk goal to make it a 12-5 game.
- Gelderman then scored her second of the evening to cut the deficit to six.
- Vetter got the Skyhawks on the scoreboard once again, putting them up, 13-6, with 10:19 to play.
- Booth added her second of the evening nine seconds later to make it a 14-6 game.
- Gelderman scored her third of the night and 60th of the season with 8:55 to play to make it 14-7.
- Stonehill's Erika Isner scored with 5:51 to go on a free-position attempt to take a 15-7 lead.
- Haimson then notched her 60th goal of the season on a man-down goal with 3:57 left in the half.
- Gelderman struck again to score her fourth of the evening and 61st of the year with just 42 seconds left.
- Wheaton scored once more with 17 seconds to go to cap off Stonehill's 16-9 win.

SETTER STATS
- Gelderman led Pace with six points on four goals and two assists. She also picked up five draw controls and three ground balls.
- Haimson scored a pair of goals.
- Lonegan totaled two points on a goal and an assist.
- Ankabrandt and Kelly each scored a goal and scooped up a ground ball in the game.
SKYHAWK LEADERS
- Healey, Wheaton and Vetter each recorded hat tricks for the Skyhawks. Vetter also had a game-high eight draw controls.
- Doherty finished with four points after dishing out three assists and scoring once.
- Cara Corvino had five caused turnovers, four ground balls and a pair of draw controls.
