Pace Women’s Basketball Falls in Road Tilt at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Pace University women's basketball team dropped a road game at American International College (AIC) Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action by a score of 67-56.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
- The Setters played closely against the Yellow Jackets as the first period came to an even 19-19 tie to close the quarter.
 
2ND QUARTER
- Tough play continued through out the second quarter, and with a 1:31 remaining in the first half, graduate student Jaclyn Oskam (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central / Quinnipiac University) split two from the free-throw line to cut into the AIC lead and make it a 30-29 Yellow Jacket advantage.
- The Yellow Jackets scored the last four points of the half, and the Setters went to the locker room with a five-point deficit.
 
HALFTIME STATS
- Senior Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) had 10 points to lead Pace at the break, along with four rebounds.
- Sophomore Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) made three triples in the first half.
- Dana Watts led AIC with 15 points at the half.
 
THIRD QUARTER
- The Setters kept the deficit in single digits, but the Yellow Jackets pushed their lead to nine by steadily increasing their advantage throughout the period.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Setters continued to compete, but they were unable to overcome AIC's lead as the Yellow Jackets took a double-digit lead and the Setters fell by 11.
 
SETTER STATS
- Dodge finished with a team-high 20 points and fell just short of a double-double with nine rebounds.
- Svoboda scored a career-high 17 points with five three-pointers and matched her career-best with seven rebounds.
- Freshman Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) tied the game-high in assists, dishing out six.
 
YELLOW JACKETS LEADERS
- Watts led all scorers with 32 points and added eight rebounds, four assists and two steals to lead AIC on Saturday.
- Imani Stepney finished with a game-best 10 rebounds and scored nine points.
- Jayda Gilmore added six assists in 18 minutes of play for the Yellow Jackets.

- Pace: 11-14 (5-12 NE10)
- AIC: 17-9 (12-6 NE10)
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters hit the road on Wednesday, Feb. 15, to visit the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. for another NE10 matchup. The game is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
