ALBANY, N.Y. – Fueled by a dominant defensive effort, the Pace University women's basketball team put together a 79-40 win over the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night. The victory improves the Setters to 4-1 overall, and 2-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Inside the Numbers
*The Blue and Gold forced a season-high 26 turnovers, while holding the Golden Knights to just 13 total field goals, including a 1-for-11 effort from beyond the arc.
*The 40 points allowed is the lowest for Pace since the 2012-13 season. The Setters yielded just 16 points in the first half.
*The Blue and Gold's fast start was highlighted by a season-high 24 points in the first quarter. Pace made 10 of its first 14 shots from the field.
*Junior
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) led the Setters' scoring efforts with a game-high 20 points.
Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) (12 points),
Lauren Schetter (Fishkill, NY/Beacon High School) (11 points), and
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) (10 points) also reached double figures.

Italee Brown-Smikle (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) led the Blue and Gold with four steals, while
Iliana Krasniqi (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) hauled in a team-high nine rebounds. As a team, Pace recorded 12 steals and outrebounded Saint Rose by a 41-35 margin.
*Pace made and attempted season-highs from the three-point line, making 8-of-24 from long range. The Blue and Gold also continued their strong efforts from the charity stripe as they finished the night 13-of-15.
How it Happened
The Setters jumped all over the home team, taking a quick 9-2 lead. Pace's advantage soon ballooned to 20-6 after a Monteleone layup at the 3:14 mark. DelliSanti capped off the scoring in the first quarter with a layup to give the Setters a 24-8 lead. The Blue and Gold shot 71 percent from the field in the opening 10.
Pace's dominance continued into the second quarter. The visitors opened up the quarter on a 12-3 run, extending the lead to 36-11. It was once again defense leading the way as the Setters allowed just eight points in the frame, eventually building a 40-16 halftime lead.
The Blue and Gold once again doubled up the home team in third, 22-11, leading to a 35-point edge after three quarters.
